Good-For-You Sweet Treats! Smoothie Recipes From Ashley and Taylor Johnston’s ‘Smooth Life’ Cookbook
We have known for a long time that a smoothie is a tasty and energizing way to start the day, but it’s tough to consistently make smoothies that are equally delicious and healthy. Enter the new cookbook Smooth Life.
“Many smoothies have a way of ending up a greenish-brown color and tasting a bit like grass, so we really tried to emphasize great color, taste and texture in our recipes,” say coauthors Ashley and Taylor Johnston, who have over 2 million followers on social media. Indeed, their recipes are vibrant to look at and taste delicious, making them the perfect kickstart for a busy day.

Red Raspberry Smoothie: Serves 1

1 cup orange juice
1 tbsp. honey or agave syrup
1 cup frozen
raspberries
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1. Pour the orange juice into a high-powered blender. Add the honey, followed by the raspberries, and finally, top with the mango.
2. Begin blending at medium speed, and work your way up to high.
3. Use the blender’s tamper to push the fruit down to the bottom and remove any air bubbles from the corners. If your blender doesn’t have a tamper, turn the blender off and use a wooden spoon or spatula to push down the fruit and scrape the sides. Blend until you’ve reached your desired thick and smooth consistency, 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Scoop into your favorite glass and enjoy.
More delicious ideas: Swap out all or half of the orange juice for coconut water for added electrolytes. Skip the honey to make it slightly less sweet.

3. Use the blender’s tamper to push the fruit down to the bottom and remove any air bubbles from the corners. If your blender doesn’t have a tamper, turn the blender off and use a wooden spoon or spatula to push down the fruit and scrape the sides. Blend until you’ve reached your desired consistency, 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Scoop into your favorite glass and top with more diced cantaloupe for garnish (if using).
