Hoo-Ah! Al Pacino Likely To Make His TV Series Debut In Amazon’s ‘The Hunt’ From ‘Get Out’ Director Jordan Peele
There is so much film and television related news on a daily basis these days that it’s sometimes hard to get more than a raised eyebrow in response to the latest announcement. Unless, of course, you’re talking about the fact that Al Pacino is likely going to be teaming up with Get Out writer/director Jordan Peele for a new TV series produced for Amazon’s streaming service. Hoo-Ah!
The 10-episode series, according to Deadline, is going to be called The Hunt and will focus on a group of Nazi Hunters who are living in New York City in 1977. Notes the site, “The Hunters, as they’re known, have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.”

The idea is that Pacino, 78, is going to serve as a mentor of sorts to Jonah Heidelbaum (Logan Lerman), who sets down a path of trying to learn the identity of the murderer of his grandmother; a quest that ultimately leads him to the group that calls itself The Hunt. The show is written by David Weil.

The Hunt serves as yet another example of how the view between films and television has shifted, and that as the Hollywood studios become more and more obsessed with blockbusters and big-budget franchises, the better genuine acting roles are continuing to migrate to the small screen. Al, of course, is one of our greats. He has literally starred in 50 films over the past 50 years, been nominated for seven Academy Awards (starting with The Godfather in 1973), and won 20 years later for Scent of a Woman. His most iconic films include Serpico, The Godfather Part II, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface, Glengarry Glen Ross, Heat, and Donnie Brasco. This year, he’s expected to be seen in The Irishman, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Axis Sally, and King Lear.
No word on when The Hunt will make its debut.
