For as long as Alan Jackson has been entertaining audiences with his traditional country music, he’s had the loving support of his wife, Denise Jackson. Having crossed paths long before the honky-tonk hitmaker rose to fame in the 1990s, Alan established an unbreakable bond with his high school sweetheart.

After more than a decade of marriage, the “Livin’ on Love” crooner and Denise started their family when they welcomed their first daughter, Mattie, in 1990. Three years later, Alan and the author expanded their brood with the birth of daughter Alexandra in 1993, followed by their youngest child, Dani, in 1997.

Despite creating a beautiful family while simultaneously excelling in his career, Alan struggled in his marriage, and following the birth of their third daughter, the couple separated for several months. The “Remember When” singer and Denise eventually worked through their marriage.

Denise Didn’t Have to Change Her Last Name

Since authoring her first book, It’s All About Him, in 2007, Denise has penned a handful of works, including The Road Home in 2008, Grace in the Shadows in 2009, Mrs. McGillicuddy and Her Friend Mr. Rude in 2010 and more.

Denise Beat Cancer

In 2010, Alan’s wife was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, according to Taste of Country. Fortunately, she was cancer-free by 2012 thanks to chemotherapy. At the time, the country music icon opened up about his wife’s cancer battle, revealing the diagnosis opened their eyes about the “important” things. “[It] made us change our whole outlook on life, what we value,” he shared with the Palm Beach Post.

Denise and Alan Enjoy the Simple Life

Though Alan is one of country music’s most beloved singers, the star and his spouse actually live a rather normal life. Speaking with The Boot in December 2020, Alan revealed their favorite date night activities. “We try to get out and go to dinner or hang out and go to the movies or something. We build a fire and have some wine and a nice evening,” he shared.

“We get up in the morning and drink coffee together and talk, and I can’t go to bed at night if she’s downstairs watching television. We go to bed together, unless I’m out of town,” Alan continued of their routine. “It’s just little things I think that have helped us more than anything. If you can last until you’re 40 years old, hopefully, you’ll be mature enough to figure out the rest of the years.”
