She’s Dealt With Insecurity

“I was so insecure about [being the daughter of a supermodel] when I was a teenager,” Alexa told 20/20 in 2010. “I was like, ‘I’m just the weird brunette girl, don’t look at me, you’ll look at Mom anyways.’ I was a really late bloomer. And so I didn’t feel pretty or anything until, maybe like 20.”

Surprisingly, even Christie dealt with teenage insecurity. “How many years ago, I was that insecure girl? And hoping that I would be good enough for Sports Illustrated?” Christie said. “So, to see my daughters having the same thoughts that I had and be able to see them [modeling] is definitely a big moment.”

Is it really all that surprising that the daughter of a musical legend has some melodic chops herself? Her singing voice is stunning.

She posed in the magazine alongside her mom and half-sister Sailor Brinkley Cook.

“It was my first time posing in a bathing suit, and [that was] something I NEVER imagined I’d ever be doing,” she said in 2017. “Mom was so unconditionally loving and encouraging about it all. She’s always calling me her ‘little muse,’ and her ‘delicate flower.’ She’s always looking out for me.”

Back in 2010, she appeared in the commercial where she showed off her hair-swinging skills. Her mom was the face of Prell back in 1986. “It was Prell’s idea,” Alexa said in 2010. “It’s kind of cool to carry on the family tradition.”

She not only sings and plays the piano, she also writes her own music, which she's been doing since she was a teen. "I was a painfully shy, awkward teenager," she said. "Terrified of boys, had a lot of social anxiety. My hideout was to go to the piano and work on music.

When pictures of her mom's gorgeous home in the Hamptons, people noticed the similarities between the house and Alexa's gorgeous New York City pad. "My favorite pieces are hand-me-downs from my mother," Alexa said.

She Composes Music

Although most musicians create songs by writing it first and then constructing the melody, Billy does it the "backwards" way — and so does Alexa. "It's no wonder I write music in the same way [my father] does," she said. "Melody first, and lyrics second!"
