Barack and Michelle Obama Adorably Celebrate Their 25th Wedding Anniversary on Instagram
In a world of swiping right, endless ghosting, and a constant wave of Hollywood heartbreaks, sometimes our faith in the love can feel like it’s faltering. That’s why we’re truly blessed to have Michelle Obama and Barack Obama in our lives.
The former leaders of the free world and full-time cutie pies just rung in their 25th wedding anniversary with the most heartwarming tributes. Kicking things off, Michelle took to Instagram to share a stunning, black and white snap from their Oct. 3 wedding day back in 1992.
Fresh-faced and no idea of what an incredible path they were about to forge, the loved-up Mr. and Mrs. gaze into the distance. “Happy 25th Anniversary, @BarackObama. A quarter of a century later, you’re still my best friend and the most extraordinary man I know. I love you,” the mother-of-two penned.
Never one to do things by halves, Barack surprised his wife with a special video message at the end of Michelle’s speech at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women on Tuesday, Oct. 3. “Your strength, grace, determination honesty, and the fact that you look so good doing all of this, it’s remarkable. It’s no wonder that as people got to know you as I got to know you, that they fell in love,” the 56-year-old said. “It’s truly the best decision I ever made to be persistent enough to ask you out on a date that you finally gave in and I hope you feel the same way.”
The couple met in 1989 in Chicago when they were both working as lawyers. Barack eventually plucked up the courage to ask Michelle out and for their first date and they went to the movies to see Do the Right Thing. They clearly did the right thing, and the rest is history. Twenty-five years, two beautiful daughters — Malia, 19, and Sasha, 16 — and one hell of a legacy later, Michelle and Barack are the real deal. Congrats you two!
