Ben Affleck Makes Shocking Comment About Jennifer Lopez Amid Their Divorce: ‘Spectacular’
Ben Affleck is in the middle of a divorce from Jennifer Lopez, but that didn’t stop him from praising her for her latest role.
Ben, 52, and Jennifer, 55, collaborated on Unstoppable, a biographical sports drama in which he produced with Matt Damon and she starred. The film is set to release in select theaters on December 6.
“Unstoppable is a very different movie than this, but in a way, it’s similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists,” he told Entertainment Tonight, while comparing Unstoppable to his other new film, Small Things Like These.
“Billy Goldenberg and Jennifer and Don Cheadle and Jharrel [Jerome], and Bobby Cannavale, all of whom were really passionate about this film,” Ben added.
He had nothing but continuous praise for the stars of the film, including Jennifer.
“It speaks to a certain kind of thing I guess we’re drawn to,” he said. “We really believe in the power of storytelling when the people involved in it are deeply connected to the story.”
“Jennifer’s spectacular,” Ben said, before talking about how well the cast portrayed the story. “We believed in the right people, and Unstoppable is another example of that.”

In September, Unstoppable premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Jennifer and Matt attended the event while Ben was noticeably absent. The premiere came two weeks after the “On the Floor” singer filed for divorce from Ben after two years of marriage.
Despite their split, Ben and Jennifer both attended an event at their children’s school on October 18. The Batman actor shares kids Violet, Fin and Samuel with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, and J. Lo shares twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Ben and Jen G. arrived at the event with Fin, 15, while J. Lo later arrived at the school with Emme, 16. However, they stayed separate throughout the night, according to multiple outlets.
“Ben knows he’s going to see Jen at these functions. Their kids go to the same school, so how could he not?” a source told In Touch after the run-in. “Still, it’s awkward.”
“Ben would rather not see Jen, but the kids come first,” the insider said. “He can’t be selfish.”
While their breakup was difficult because their children were so close, Ben and J. Lo plan to keep things status quo for the sake of their families.
“Ben and Jen are resigned to keeping things as is,” the insider told the outlet. “The hope is it’ll get easier as time goes by.”
“She’d like to be closer,” the source said of J. Lo’s hopes for her relationship with Ben, “but as far as Ben’s concerned, it’s better for them to keep separate lives as much as possible.”
The source went on to say that Ben was leaning on Jen G. for support amid his split from J. Lo.
“She’s a stabilizing influence, and she’s been a huge support throughout his split,” the insider explained. “They’re the best of friends and there’s no awkwardness between them.”
