Bette Midler Now Has a Flower Named After Her Thanks to the New York Botanical Garden

While some folks may think getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a big deal, not many people can have a flower named after them, but that’s exactly the honor that Bette Midler has received

According to Page Six, the New York Botanical Garden has named a flower “The Divine Miss M” after the legendary performer, 73. The flower is being described as “totally decadent” and a “huge dollop of whipped cream with overtones of antique white with a slight golden hue and fragrance of myrrh and lime.” That sounds quite fancy!

It will be planted in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the singer’s breakout film, 1979’s The Rose — a movie that was nominated for four Oscars, including one for Best Actress for Bette’s performance.

If you’re interested in seeing it, it will be revealed in full bloom at the New York Restoration Project’s spring picnic on June 19.

It’s no surprise that the hitmaker is having a flower named after her, especially since she has made it very clear that all things green are important to her. Bette has been encouraging people recently to speak out against New York City’s vote to destroy The Elizabeth Street Garden in Little Italy — a decision she called “unbelievably unfair and shortsighted” on Twitter, adding that the space was “the only place for miles around where people can rest themselves outdoors.”

In another tweet, the Hocus Pocus star said, “You can have both affordable housing and green spaces!” She added, “Parks are crucial infrastructure for our city, cleaning air and water, lowering temperatures to protect vulnerable neighborhoods during heat waves, and anchoring revitalization and crime reduction.”

We are certainly are all about nature, and completely support Bette’s thoughts on the matter. Here’s hoping she can save the space!
