Phew!Bette Midler Is “Fine” After Scary Fall During ‘Hello, Dolly!’ Performance

That was a close one! Bette Midler had a scary fall during a recent performance of Hello, Dolly!, but thankfully, she's doing a lot better now.

The hit Broadway show was halted on Thursday, Sept. 14 after the A-lister took a spill while onstage. However, the 71-year-old addressed her fans on Twitter shortly after the show to assure them that all was well.

"You may hear I was in a little accident onstage tonight," she wrote on the social media platform. "Two set pieces collided, I had to make a run for it, and I fell. But I’m fine." The fall allegedly happened right before intermission, and after a short delay, began again after.

Bette has been portraying Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly! for months now, but beginning in June, Tony-winner Donna Murphy began taking over her role on Tuesday nights. In addition, Donna will take Bette's place on October 15 (Sunday evening), October 30 (Monday evening), November 1 through 5, November 24 (Friday matinee), and January 7 (Sunday evening), according to Broadway.com.

Donna previously gushed about the exciting role. "This is the perfect job for me at this point because it allows me to do what is most important in terms of my daughter and in terms of work. And how amazing to be able to actually do it in the theater, which is a kind of home for me and which I’ve missed greatly!" she told Huffington Post. "So I’m really excited and thrilled about every element of it. I’m not saying that I’m never going to do eight shows again. I’m just saying that I’ll only do it when its right for my daughter and myself."

Bette's accident comes a few months after she won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. "I’m so privileged, I’m so honored," she said during her memorable acceptance speech. "I hope I don’t cry. Thank you to the Tony voters, many of whom I’ve actually dated… I’m so grateful for the outpouring of love and affection — I can’t remember the last time I had so much smoke blown up my a*s , but there’s no more room." Break a leg tonight, Dolly!
