Season 2 of the highly anticipated HBO hit series Big Little Lies is upon us, and women across America are squirming with envy over the Monterey Five. Their houses! Their outfits! And most of all … their hair! If you’ve ever wanted to get the same iconic style as the stars of the show, we’ve got you covered. Celebrity hairstylist Linet K sat down with Closer Weekly to exclusively and break down how to look like the ladies of Monterey in Season 2. Madeline McKenzie

Madeline McKenzie, played by Reese Witherspoon, is the “the quintessential California girl.” Here’s how to steal her bubbly beach blonde look. “The idea is to look like you’ve spent a lot of time in the sun.” the celebrity stylist explained. “Ask your stylist for a sun-kissed highlight or balayage, and add more face-framing pieces.” But just like Madeline herself, if not properly nurtured this hair can get brittle, start to split and completely break down. To avoid this, Linet suggests using “Olaplaex once a week at least! Especially on the ends, it’s going to make your bleached hair strong and protect it from sun damage.”

Pro tip: “If you chose balayage over highlights, you’ll be able to go up to 2x as long between touch-ups.”

Celeste Wright

Celeste Wright, played by Nicole Kidman, is the “sweetheart, a girl with good intentions.” Linet says “She really embodies her strawberry blonde hair.” Whether or not you’re a good girl, you can at least look the part, but it’s going to take some work. “Her hair is the most expensive to maintain. Strawberry blonde is one of the hardest colors to keep because your hair is bleached and then it’s glossed with a red shade, and all reds fade quickly whether it’s a light red or a dark red. If you want to maintain your strawberry blonde, you will need to gloss every three to four weeks, then every six to eight weeks you’re touching up the highlights too.”

Pro tip: A trip to the salon twice a month can really add up. So if you want to look Monterey without spending the money, and your hair is already light, Linet has a DIY hack! “Mix up a thick paste of olive or coconut oil with any orangey red food coloring or spices like cayenne pepper! Glob it onto the hair, wait at least 30 minutes, the longer you leave it on the more it will soak it. It will fade after a couple of washes to soft strawberry blonde.”

Mary Louise Wright

Mary Louise Wright, played by Meryl Streep, is the “nosy mother-in-law.” As the newest addition to the star-studded cast, we haven’t had time to really get a grasp on Mary’s personality yet, but who doesn’t love Meryl!? Linet explains how to rock “gray the fabulous way,” just like the naturally salt and pepper Ms. Streep. “Ask for a regular gloss on top of your gray hair, and a root smudge. It will revive the color, giving you a dull-free natural look.”

Pro tip: Is your natural gray a bit too patchy? Linet has you covered, “Ask for an even distribution of baby lights and a grey-specific gloss. That will give it a pretty gray sheen.”

Bonnie Carlson

Bonnie Carlson, played by Zoe Kravitz, was dubbed the “Earth Mama, Boho Queen,” by Linet, who goes on to say the spirit of this natural look can be achieved by all. “Whatever texture hair you naturally have, this is a wash and wear look with the use of conditioning products to keep it soft and pretty looking instead of frizzy or messy.” Embrace your hair’s natural texture with the help of, “Moroccan oil products. [They] are great for natural mamas. Any organic products are great, as long as they are sulfate free and paraben free.”

Pro Tip: Fancy organic products can add up. Earth mamas, don’t fret, you can make a simple nourishing hair mask at home with products you already have in your kitchen! “One avocado and one tablespoon of coconut oil. Mash it up really really well and coat your hair. Leave on for 30, then wash out with your regular shampoo and conditioner. You’ll see a difference instantly! It will weigh down any frizz that you might have, so you can just wash and wear it!”

Jane Chapman

Jane Chapman, played by Shailene Woodley, is the “girl next door.” This is the look for those that need to budget both their time and money. Like Bonnie, Jane’s hair is wash and wear, but with a little more of a polished look thanks to her bangs. A great hack for girls on the go. “Bangs are only going to take you three to five minutes to dry and style and then you can let the rest air dry. Spray some texture spray on a comb to get that piecey-bangs look.” With a longer bang you can go up to six weeks in between bang trim visits, “It’s a fast appointment, it takes 15 minutes, and you can even do a gloss in that amount of time too if you want to add some shine.”

Pro Tip: What bang is best for you? Linet advises, “If you have a slim long face, you can do a shorter blunt bang. If you have strong cheekbones, a heart-shaped or round face then you can do more of a Bridget Bardot style curtain bang, where the sides are longer.”

Renata Klein

Renata Klein, played by Laura Dern, is the ultimate “high maintenance” friend. Linet finds that her hairstyle “matches her character. You can see uptight Renata running to the salon every four to six weeks begging, ‘Do my roots, do my roots.’ None of the other Monterey Five have a full base and a full highlight. Renata is the only one!” It takes so much work to achieve that easy breezy loose wave look. Linet breaks it down, “Ask for a full base color in medium brown, level 6. Then sun-kissed highlights to the root. Every month you will need to touch up the base and highlights.” Color, check! Now how about that style? “Use a 1 1/2 to 2-inch barrel curling iron, curl away from the face, and switch up the direction of the curls on the back and sides. Finish with a dry shampoo spray for hold and volume, then tussle the curls loose with your fingers.”

Pro Tip: When opting for so much color in your hair, don’t skip the brows! “otherwise they will look too dark compared to your hair” warns Linet
