Brad Pitt Received His First Gun in Kindergarten, Doesn’t Feel Safe Without One

Brad Pitt's upbringing was anything but Hollywood! Born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri, the A-list actor recently revealed he was given his first gun at the age of six.

“There’s a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors’ weapons,” the 50-year-old explained. “My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was in kindergarten."

But the Oscar winner didn't fire his first handgun until the age of eight. “The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon,” he said.

Brad previously told the Daily Mail he doesn't feel his family is safe without one. "It's very strange, but I feel better having a gun. I don't feel the house is completely safe if I don't have one hidden somewhere," he admitted back in 2012.

Although the "Fight Club" star didn't mention whether he'll pass down firearms to his six children, he did say eldest son Maddox has become quite knowledgable about war machinery, which came in handy when Brad was shooting his latest film, "Fury."

"Maddox knows so much about tanks that when we first started, I was asking him for information," he told Radio Times.
