‘A Star Is Born’ Director Bradley Cooper Confesses He Was ‘Embarrassed’ By His Oscars Snub
Aw, poor guy! On Tuesday, February 6, Bradley Cooper confessed how he really felt about his Best Director Oscars snub for A Star Is Born during a recent interview.
“I went, ‘Oh wow,’ and the first thing I felt was embarrassment, actually felt embarrassed that I didn’t do my part,” the 44-year-old stud admitted. “I was with my friend. I was in New York City at a coffee shop and I looked down at my phone and Nicole [his publicist] had texted me and they said congratulations on these other things, but they didn’t tell me the bad news.”
The American Sniper star can’t be that hard on himself. He was nominated for his directing talents at this year’s Golden Globes and The Directors Guild of America Awards – although he did not come out on top.
And while no one would ever dare call the gorgeous Bradley Cooper a “loser,” he did confess that “you feel [like one] when people treat you like it afterwards.” He explained, “That’s the only downside. The award show ends and first of all, they avoid you a little bit and then they do say, ‘It was a good movie.’ Thanks, thanks.”
No one is letting this Oscars snub change their views of the talented actor, including his costar and BFF Lady Gaga. The blonde beauty, 32, recently shared her own opinion on Bradley’s snub and her answer proves why they are friendship goals.
“But at the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast,” she told the LA Times. “I know that he’s so happy that we’ve all been nominated and that the film was recognized and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition.”
But, don’t worry, A Star Is Born did still manage to receive eight nominations including Best Actor, Best Original Song, Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay and more … so, we think he’ll be OK! Plus, we’ll be seeing the best original song come to life once again as the dynamic duo will be performing “Shallow” that night.
So, yes, the countdown has begun.
The 91st annual host-less Oscars airs on Sunday, February 24, on ABC at 8:00 p.m. EST.
