It is always a memorable trip when lambs are involved. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall recently visited the newly opened Jamie’s Farm in East Sussex to celebrate the charity’s 10th anniversary, and let’s just say that the royal had quite the good time.

The 71-year-old made a pit stop at the farm in East Sussex, which works with disadvantaged young people to help them thrive in society, especially academically and socially. Camilla, who has been a patron of the organization since 2004, shared stories of her childhood while there — she grew up near Jamie’s farm.

“It was just the perfect place to grow up, we had so much freedom. We were out on our ponies or walking and exploring each day,” Camilla said. “Sometimes I even used to ride my pony to school — I mean you couldn’t do that anywhere nowadays.”

“It was idyllic and I’m feeling terribly nostalgic,” Prince Charles‘ wife said after recalling riding her pony almost every day with her sister Annabel.

Camilla wore a long blue coat dress and matched her outfit with some earrings, a pearl necklace and some brown heels. While at the farm, she met with some young people from the Harris Academy Orpington, as they were preparing a lunch of pasta.

“I wish I was staying now, this looks delicious,” Camilla said.

While sharing stories from when she was a young girl, Camilla revealed she had been a student at Dumbrells School, where the teachers were “fearsomely strict.”

“It was the only place I think I ever learnt something,” she said.

Camilla also met with Jamie Fielden, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jamie’s Farm — nothing but smiles!

The farm finds principles of “farming, family, therapy and legacy,” important and encourages young people to spend time with their family every night by sitting down to a home-cooked meal.
