Candice Cameron Bure Had the Best Response to a Body-Shamer on Instagram — Read Her Comment!
Show 'em who's boss, Candace Cameron Bure! After recently posting an Instagram photo of herself and her 18-year-old son Lev Bure during a night out to dinner, the mom-of-three was met with some seriously uncalled for body-shaming online. And, instead of ignoring one particularly harsh comment, Candace took action and wrote back!
In a screenshot captured by Cosmopolitan, the negative commenter — who seemed to mistake Candace's son for her husband in the pic — wrote, "All that exersizing [sic], and you still look like you weigh more than your husband, did you change your diet?"
At first, Candace replied with a simple, "Nice, troll," accompanied by a smiley face emoji. As the comment continued to gain more traction from supportive fans, however, Candice added a follow-up: "If a 25 inch waist looks big to you… then you’re looking through an altered lens. Be well."
Having been in the spotlight since she was seven years old, Candace has been a victim of this sort of body-shaming many times. So much so, that she's openly spoken out about struggling with the eating disorder bulimia during her youth. In 2016, the Fuller House star spoke at a panel for the Eating Recovery Center. 'I'm honored to be a spokesperson for it because I know how it affects someone firsthand," she told E! News at the time.
She continued, "We all have to eat food and so, it's nothing something that we can just stop and eliminate from our lives and so, it is different from an alcohol addiction or drug addiction because those things, we don't have to partake in. But food, we have to eat, so we need to learn how to still be able to eat and make it a part of our lives, to live and be healthy but also deal with the mental illness aspect of it."
In 2017, Candace revealed to People, "I feel the most fit and strong that I’ve ever felt in my life." And it's clear that she's still harnessing that positivity in 2018 — so, body-shamers, back off!
