Carrie Ann Inaba’s Relationship History: From Artem Chigvintsev Romance to Her 2 Failed Engagements

Carrie Ann met the Russian professional dancer when he was competing on So You Think You Can Dance, and the pair began dating in 2006. However, their relationship only lasted two and a half years, with Carrie Ann telling People in February 2009, “I’m single. Artem and I broke up in the beginning of November. As much as our relationship was really good, [we weren’t] ‘the one’ for the other. It was very sad to let go of something that was so good on so many levels.” She called Artem “a fine gentleman,” adding, “I have never gone out with somebody that grounded, always ready to talk it out. I’m very happy for him and the success he’s having.”

In a 2015 Dancing With the Stars blog post for Parade, she said that in celebration of the season 20 premiere, she “received beautiful flowers from my agent, the producers, my mom and my boyfriend Tony, who is in Italy at the moment,” adding, “The whole day felt positive.”

Carrie Ann got engaged for the second time when Robb popped the question on December 10, 2016, at the same place they had their first date: a beach cove along the California coast. “Saturdays are special to us, because our first date was on a Saturday and we have celebrated with a toast, a visit to a beach, special date, a motorcycle adventure, or a road trip on every Saturday since,” she told People at the time. “So on Saturday, we returned to the place of our first date and got engaged at the same place we shared our spontaneous and magical first date.” However, in September 2017, Carrie Ann posted a cryptic quote to Instagram that read, “Just when I think I’ve learned the way to live, life changes.” Days later, it was confirmed the couple had split.

At the time, she told her cohosts she was in a “committed relationship” with a man whom she’d met around her Los Angeles neighborhood. “I have fallen in love,” she said. “He’s older than I am, and he’s a wonderful human being. And now, I understand how a relationship can work. He’s been so supportive and a mature adult ’cause maybe sometimes I’m not, so that’s working really well.” However, just over a year later, she told her followers that she and Fabien had broken up. “I am single. Again. I am also … grateful for what was,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on May 12, 2021. “Confused. Uncertain of the future. Sad. Hopeful. Trying to allow the emotions. Trying to be strong, allowing myself [the] space to cry and I will grow. And I will evolve. And I will survive this too. And I will honor that gift that it was.”
