Carrie Underwood Jokes That Fitting Into Non-Maternity Gowns For Awards Shows Is Harder Than Hosting And Performing

Country music star Carrie Underwood is one fierce chick. The “Cry Pretty” singer can blow everyone away with her performances, take home stellar titles at award shows, and not even sweat a drip while giving acceptance speeches. However, Carrie just dished that all of those things are much easier to do compared to fitting into non-maternity dresses while pregnant.

The American Idol winner said getting dressed in a plethora of gowns and high heels for award shows “when you don’t recognize your own body” is more difficult than you can imagine. “And I feel kinda bad for returning dresses [to fashion designers who loaned them] that aren’t maternity dresses, all stretched out in the middle,” the 35-year-old admitted to Us Weekly. The blonde-haired beauty even joked that while hosting the 2018 CMA’s on Nov. 14, she couldn’t wait to get home and put her pajamas on.

Although she was daydreaming of her comfy clothes, it was all worth it for Carrie, who took home the title of Female Vocalist of the Year — for the fifth time. “I would be lying if I said I didn’t want awards, because I’m a competitive person, and I love these shows,” Carrie revealed. “For me, with all the ups and downs we’ve been through, plus making an album on top of all of that, this one definitely means a lot,” Carrie admits. “I’m honored to get to hold some pretty incredible titles.”

Out of all her titles, we think we know which one is her favorite. “Mom is definitely [also] one of them,” Carrie said of the astonishing honors she’s been given. In just a few months, Carrie will be the mom of not just one little boy, but two. The “Before He Cheats” singer is expecting her second son with her husband, Mike Fisher, and while the journey hasn’t been the easiest, it’s undoubtedly worth it.

“It took us a while to get here… I’m gonna cry again,” she told Town & Country backstage at the CMAs. “[I’m] just so thankful… to find out Isaiah’s gonna have a baby brother. It was just great news. We’re excited.” We are so happy for Carrie and Mike, and we cannot wait to see pictures of their adorable baby boy!
