When it comes to most classic films, each and every scene is perfect to a T. Not a single thing seems out of place and the actors are always right on cue. But believe it or not, it's usually the total opposite behind the scenes, and actors are bound to experience some painfully awkward filming moments.

The very first scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

In the window-shopping scene, it appears as if Audrey Hepburn is in a peaceful, empty area, but believe it or not, tons of fans were watching her film it. This made her really nervous and she ended up making tons of mistakes before finally getting it right.

When Maria and Captain declared their love at the gazebo in The Sound of Music.

In this scene, Julie Andrews kept laughing every time she leaned in to kiss Christopher Plummer. It took 20 takes before the director finally changed the scene to only show their silhouettes.

When Baby and Johnny tried to practice this move in Dirty Dancing.

This adorable scene where Jennifer Grey starts giggling wasn't originally planned. Since it was meant to be more serious, she and Patrick Swayze had to go through several takes, and Jennifer still kept laughing because she was so ticklish. Patrick wasn't too happy about it, though.

The romantic kissing scene between Scottie and Madeleine in Vertigo.

When James Stewart and Kim Novak kissed, they were actually revolving on a circular platform while the camera was moving back and forth. These movements caused them to get so dizzy that James ended up falling during one of the takes.

When Jane dragged Blanche's body in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?.

It appears that Bette Davis and Joan Crawford did not get along at all in real life. In this scene, Joan actually added heavy weights to her robe to make it harder for Bette to move her.

When Joseph and Betty first kiss in Sunset Boulevard.

When William Holden and Nancy Olson kissed for the first time, the director let them continue for several minutes as a practical joke, even though he'd already gotten what he needed. But William's wife, who was actually on set watching the whole thing, finally yelled "Cut!"

When the Wicked Witch tried to leave Munchkinland in The Wizard of Oz.

Margaret Hamilton ended up getting burnt by accident while she filmed this scene. In the first take, the smoke came too early, and in the second take, her cape caught on fire, causing her makeup to heat up and burn a part of her face.

When Sugar started searching for the bourbon in Some Like It Hot.

That scene actually required over 40 takes because Marilyn Monroe kept forgetting her lines. Instead of saying "Where's the bourbon?" she'd say things like "Where's the whiskey?" or "Where's the bottle?" The director eventually had to write it down and paste it in every drawer she opened.

When George got saved in It's a Wonderful Life.

On the day that this scene was filmed, it was actually 90 degrees Fahrenheit. You could tell in certain scenes that he was sweating, but we can't imagine the torture he went through from wearing so much clothes in the hot weather.

When Renault opened a bottle of Vichy water in Casablanca.

For this scene, the director of the film, Michael Curtiz, had the entire cast and crew wait for the prop man to get him a bottle of water. However, because of his accent, the prop man heard “poodle” and literally went out to search for a dog. When he returned, though, the director was furious and made it clear that he meant a “bottle of water.”
