Colter Shaw Breaks Down in Tears in ‘Tracker’ Season 2 Finale Trailer as 1 Character Makes Dramatic Return
An important character is coming back to Tracker, and we’ve got some burning questions amid the release of the latest trailer! Colter Shaw will come face-to-face with a familiar figure in the show’s season 2 finale when he returns to Echo Ridge – and it appears some major family drama will come to a head.
In a promo of the finale episode shared by TVLine ahead of the Sunday, May 4, air date, Colter heads back home to Echo Ridge for a job. It’s there that fans will see an appearance by Colter’s mother, Mary Dove Show, played by Wendy Crewson. We last saw her back in season 1 in the first two episodes of the show. Things have certainly changed drastically in Colter’s life since we last saw Mary.
“I spent most of my life trying to figure out what happened that night. My father went over the cliff,” Colter says in the trailer, as a scene from when he was younger and found his father dead in the woods plays in the foreground. It seems like Colter will retrace his steps from that night, coming face-to-face with a man holding a gun while walking through the woods. It’s not likely that this man is an enemy, considering photos released ahead of the episode show him and Colter sitting down and talking in a friendly manner.
The trailer then cuts to a scene of Colter holding a gun pointed toward someone and shedding tears while he does it. Could this be him confronting Mary for her possible involvement in the murder of Ashton Shaw? Or is there someone else in Echo Ridge who is involved?
“You know this place better than anybody,” Mary tells Colter in another scene. “Things used to be simpler here.”
“Sounds like you and I remember this place a little differently,” Colter says to his mother.

Theories have run rampant about whether or not Mary knows something about the night Ashton was killed. She discouraged Colter from answering brother Russell Shaw’s calls before they reconciled earlier on in the show. Russell denied having any involvement in Ashton’s death, but Mary has been a bit suspicious when it comes to the subject, seemingly still trying to put the blame on Russell.
Also in the finale episode trailer, it looks like Colter will have to deal with a harrowing case involving the missing owner of Little Fork Restaurant.
“I stumbled onto something pretty dark,” he says. The camera cuts to a series of photographs of children laid out with their names written underneath the photos. “This is a horror show,” Randy says, as Bobby Exley then says, “They’re from all over the country.”
“Quite the mess you found, Shaw,” someone tells Colter during the investigation.
“There was a lot about your father I had no clue about. Why can’t you let this go,” Mary says at the end of the trailer.
In the previous episode, Colter’s sister, Dory Shaw, had given him a box of stuff left from their father, which included documents, a bag of rocks, a notebook and a piece of paper with a phone number written on it that was no longer in service.
