Dan Marino Reflects Back on His Proudest Professional Accomplishment in Football
When Dan Marino announced his retirement as the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins in March 2000 after 17 NFL seasons — and one Super Bowl! — he held the records for most passing years, completions and touchdown passes.
Yet his greatest day didn’t happen until five years later.
“The day I was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame was the best day of my life,” the 53-year-old athlete boasts to ‘Closer.’

He remembers that Sunday afternoon in 2005 as if it was yesterday.
“There I was, standing onstage, and when I looked out in front of me, I saw all my teammates, my parents, my wife and kids,” recalls Dan, who is now an ambassador for Nutrisystem.
