Love It or List It’s David Visentin Reveals If He’s Still Friends With Hilary Farr After Her Exit

Still on good terms? Love It or List It’s David Visentin revealed if he and former cohost Hilary Farr are still friends after she shockingly left the show.

“Hilary and I will be friends forever. I love her,” David told TV Insider in an interview published on Monday, April 21. “You can’t work with somebody for that long and not appreciate them as a human being and have love for them. I appreciate everything she gave to this show since 2008. I mean, it got to be where it is because of her.”

HGTV announced that Page Turner was replacing Hilary on the show after her exit. However, David admitted that he did not have a say in who his new cohost would be.

“I had no part in that process,” the real estate broker confessed. “They told me. They called me and said, ‘OK, this is what we’re thinking.’ The name didn’t ring a bell right away and then I looked and I went, ‘Oh, OK.’ I said, ‘Yes, this is going to be fun.’”

Hilary first announced in December 2023 that she would not be returning to Love It or List It.

“I’ve given it so many years of my life,” the home designer told People at the time of her decision. “It’s got me through hard times. It’s got the audiences through hard times. It has evolved into a mainstay of people’s lives and it’s been incredibly gratifying. But now it’s time for me to move on and meet new challenges.”

The TV personality said that she actually decided that she was going to leave the show one year before announcing it.

“I realized that everything that I am as a woman, which is [that I] look for challenges, look for inspiration, look for new ideas, be excited about all the possibilities that are out there, had really needed to bloom and to find their way,” Hilary said. “I told everyone I’m done.”

In an interview with Vulture that same month, Hilary was asked what it was like keeping her plans to leave the show to herself for a year.

“It’s been perfectly fine,” she admitted. “As far as I knew, it had been put to bed, but then the network came back, and they were lovely and flattering and friendly, and they made a very generous offer on all levels. It was very nice, and I had to think about it. But I still came to the same answer. I just can’t do it again. They’ve been very gracious, though, as has David.”

Which HGTV Couple Is Your Favorite?

It was another comment she made during the interview that ended up shocking fans of the show, calling the series “boring.”

“That kind of show doesn’t always bring the best out in people, just by virtue of what it is,” Hilary said about Love It or List It. “I’ve always loved working with David and the actual work was great, but as you say, behind the scenes, the design, the difficulty, the supply-line issues, the delays … everybody was stressed, and it just felt different. It was taking up too much of my life and it was boring.”
