Dennis Quaid Reveals His ‘Parent Trap’ Co-Star Natasha Richardson’s Death ‘Devastated’ Him

When Natasha Richardson died in 2009 after suffering a fatal head injury during a Montreal ski trip, fans around the world mourned her loss — but her death was especially hard for her former Parent Trap co-star, Dennis Quaid. In a new interview with Us Weekly, Dennis candidly opened up about still missing Natasha today, nine years after her untimely passing.

“Now you hit my heart. She was such a beautiful person, such a beautiful, beautiful person. Just none of that, that actor stuff, prima donna stuff,” the 64-year-old actor said. “Someone easy to work with and such a great sense of humor.”

“When that accident happened, it just devastated me and so many other people,” Dennis explained. “She had such a beautiful love, married life with [Liam Neeson], and two beautiful boys. She always had a smile on her face when she came to work. That really affected everyone around her.”

Dennis and Natasha starred alongside child actress Lindsay Lohan, now 32, in The Parent Trap back in 1998. This year, the film celebrated its 20th anniversary and for Dennis, the milestone just wasn’t the same without Natasha. “Things start to go by so quick. That movie just keeps going on and on and on,” he revealed.

Natasha’s death was also extremely hard for her beloved husband, Liam. “I was drinking too much. It started since my wife died,” Liam noted in a previous interview with GQ. During another sit-down, the actor also revealed that work has helped him through losing Natasha. “I’m not good without work. I just don’t — I just don’t wallow too much. You know? And I just didn’t want to — especially for my boys — seem to be wallowing in sadness or depression.”
