Donny Osmond Reminisces on First — and Only — ‘Rolling Stone’ Cover
Memories! Donny Osmond has had quite the successful career and has graced the covers of many publications — recently, the performer looked back at one shoot that stands out.
“My first & only Rolling Stone cover,” the 61-year-old said on Twitter on Wednesday, May 1, alongside a photo showing a young Donny posing for the magazine in March 1976. “Photographer Annie Leibovitz arrived at our home for the shoot and told me not to change my clothes or comb my hair. She wanted to take the photos just the way I was. After asking me not to smile, Annie caught me mid-laugh for this shot.”

Fans of The Masked Singer alum had plenty of positive reactions to the nostalgic post. “Always loved this photo! Got you to sign it for me in Vegas last time!” a person said. Another added, “She gave us a glimpse at your other side. Donny the electrical technician. And that hair … so wild and unruly … love it.” “Love seeing the old memories. I may have this,” one user commented.
The dancer also took to Instagram to praise the longtime photographer. “I admire Annie’s gift for portrait photography. She saw past the carefully coiffed boy pictured on album covers, lunch boxes and billboards and managed to capture ‘the real me’ — the one who spent his time wiring our recording studio, figuring out how computers work, and crawling through attics to fix electrical systems,” he said. “Oh yes … I sang once in a while as well.”
This cover may have been shot 43 years ago, but Donny is still working hard. He recently wrapped up his Las Vegas residency with his sister, Marie Osmond.
“It’s been rumored that we’re bringing ‘Donny and Marie’ to an end here in Las Vegas,” Donny told host Paula Faris on Good Morning America on March 21. “We’re here to say it’s official,” adding that the decision was “very, very hard.”
We can’t wait to see what else is in store for Donny — especially what other magazines he will be on the cover of!
