Ellen Albertini Dow, aka the ‘Rapping Granny’ from ‘The Wedding Singer,’ Has Died at 101
Ellen Albertini Dow, known as the ‘Rapping Granny’ in Adam Sandler’s 1998 romantic comedy The Wedding Singer, has sadly died at 101-years-old.
Though she studied acting, performed comedy and both directed and choreographed stage productions earlier in her career, Ellen didn’t make her big-screen debut until she was in her 70s.

Aside from her role in ‘Wedding Singer,’ her most memorable film credits include ‘Wedding Crashers,’ ’54,’ ‘Radioland Murders’ and ‘Sister Act.’

She also landed guest-starring roles in TV series ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation,’ ‘The Golden Girls,’ ‘Just Shoot Me,’ ‘Will & Grace,’ ‘Seinfeld,’ ‘Scrubs’ and ‘According to Jim.’
Her agent, who confirmed the news to ‘Deadline,’ has not provided any further details on the date or cause of the actress’ death at this time.
