Elton John’s Late Mother Didn’t Leave Him Any Money in Her Will (REPORT)
This is awkward. Elton John‘s mother, Sheila Farebrother, died in early December, just a few months after the two reconciled following years of not speaking to one another. And now, a new report claims she didn’t leave her son any money in her will, which she allegedly tweaked three weeks before she died.
“I give to my son Elton John free of all taxes my two Batignani blue/gold urns and my photographs of mother in uniform and grandfather in uniform,” her will said, according to The Sun. However, her former assistant, Bob Halley, is reportedly getting half of her fortune. The other half is going to Elton’s half-brother, Frederick Farebrother, and her friend, Deborah Woodward.
Bob is the one that caused Ellen and Sheila to stop talking in the first place. The two allegedly cut ties back in 2008 after Sheila refused to end her friendship with Bob and Elton’s other friend John Reid after he had a falling out with them. “I told him, ‘I’m not about to do that and drop them. Bob is like a son to me. He has always been marvelous to me and he lives nearby and keeps an eye on me,'” Sheila recalled of her convo with Elton during a 2015 interview with Daily Mail. “Then to my utter amazement, he told me he hated me. And he then banged the phone down. Imagine! To me, his mother!”
The two made up in May of last year, which Elton shared on Mother’s Day alongside a photo of the two. “Dear Mum, Happy Mother’s Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton xo #MothersDay,” he wrote at the time.
That said, we can imagine Elton is hurt by the gesture. “Sir Elton is worth [$414 million], but it’s not the money that matters,” a source told The Sun. “It very much looks like Sheila was determined to make one final point to her son in her will.”
