In 1957, Elvis Presley purchased his famous Graceland estate for $100,000 at 22 years old. The “Hound Dog” singer was one of the biggest stars in the world at the time but always considered the Memphis, Tennessee, mansion to be his home base.

The Origin of Graceland

The home was built in 1939 and was named Graceland after original owner Stephen C. Toof’s daughter Grace.
