Ewan McGregor and Wife to Divorce After 22 Years of Marriage

After nearly a year of being separated, actor Ewan McGregor has filed for divorce from his wife, French production designer Eve Mavrakis — three months after photos revealed that Ewan had been having an affair with a female co-star.

Ewan and Eve had been married for 22 years and share four children together, Anouk, 7, Esther, 16, Jamyan, 17, and Clara, 22 — and he is citing irreconciable differences in the divorce documents, according to TMZ. Ewan is asking for joing custody of the three minor children and is willing to pay spousal support.

The news of their imminent divorce broke last October following pictures published in The Sun newspaper over the weekend that showed the Moulin Rouge! actor kissing his Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The two were seen dining together at The Good Life Eatery in London before kissing and riding home on Ewan’s motorcycle. “Ewan and Mary Elizabeth were there together and seemed relaxed in each other’s company. The cafe was really busy with people including delivery drivers coming in and out the whole time. They were deep in conversation and were there together for more than an hour. As they left she got onto the back of Ewan’s motorbike and they sped off together,” a source told The Sun.

The actor has since revealed that he had separated from his wife back in May, but the couple had decided to keep the decision private. The duo has been posting pictures on social media without their wedding rings for months now. Coincidentally, Mary Elizabeth also split from her husband in May, posting on Instagram at the time, “We’ve decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days. We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always, Riley.”

Ewan and his wife, Eve, met on the set of the British television show Kavanagh QC before the actor found worldwide fame in Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge! and the Star Wars prequels.
