Find Out How Monica Potter Turned Her Lavish House Into a Loving Home

Monica Potter likes to put her personal stamp on everything — especially when it comes to decorating a home.

The ‘Parenthood’ actress and her husband, Chris Allison, found their “very traditional” three-bedroom
LA home 12 years ago, and although the 1940s-era property had very good bones, it needed a little bit of Monica’s love to make it feel special.

“I walked through thinking, ‘This is it,’” Monica, 43, told ‘Closer.’

“But the backyard was all concrete, and I wanted it to feel like an English garden with lavender and a French influence. So we gutted everything and it became my pet project — and where all the money went,” she shared with a laugh.

The lush new yard became an ideal play space for their daughter, Molly, nine, and a family gathering place when Monica’s sons, Danny, 24, and Liam, 20, come to visit. It’s also appreciated by their coterie of pets: Belgian shepherd guard dog Bella, cat Chubbles and two rabbits, Bun Bun and Oreo.

Monica and Chris, 39 — an oncologist at Cedars- Sinai Medical Center — also added a front porch to give the house “an East Coast feel,” and furnished the 2,800-square-foot abode in a homey “shabby chic, rustic and vintage” style. “I love things that have a soul and a history,” she said.
