A Fourth ‘Bridget Jones’ Movie Could Be Happening and We Can’t Contain Our Excitement!

Hold onto your granny panties, because a fourth installment of our favorite wine-loving Brit, Bridget Jones, could be in the works! The adored character known for her hilarious social awkwardness and singleton status could make a comeback, according to actress Renee Zellweger. The Daily Record recently asked the 48-year-old if reprising her role as the hapless TV executive was a possibility, and she replied, “I really hope so. I do. I love her. She’s so much fun.” Renee made a comeback in 2016 for Bridget Jones’ Baby after a seven-year hiatus, but was apprehensive about the kind of reception a third movie would receive from fans.

At the time, she said, “I wanted it to matter and if you make a third film based on a character that is beloved to so many people, you want to be careful with it, and I felt a responsibility to [author] Helen Fielding. I wanted to know, in the process, that the story we told was based on something substantive. And that it was true to the tradition of this character and what she represents.”

After multiple happily ever afters and of course, a baby, can there be much more to Bridget’s story? Renee seems to think so, and we certainly won’t disagree. “I really like the place she is at in her life, but it’s Bridget and there’s always going to be some drama. She’s so perfectly imperfect,” she said. The last film left us open to the possibility of a fourth when it was discovered that Bridget’s sex-crazed boss Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant) was reported to have been found alive in a newspaper article after previously being declared dead. Coincidence? We think not.
