Matt will be the series' first American host in its 39-year history. The hit show — which premiered in 2002 — is a factual television program about motor vehicles, primarily cars.
"As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I'm honored and excited to be a part of this iconic show's new chapter," Matt said in a statement. "What a thrill!" The actor will work beside English TV star Chris Evans, who joined the program as a co-host in June 2015.
