George Clooney will be the first to admit that he got so “lucky” when it came to meeting wife Amal Clooney. She has fascinated the masses with her philanthropic efforts and work as a human rights lawyer.

Amal has gone through quite an amazing transformation since stepping into the spotlight when she began dating the ER alum in 2013.

2013

Amal was seen at Berners Tavern restaurant in London amid the early stages of her relationship with George. The pair were introduced by a mutual friend, and the rest was history.

“It’s the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, ‘I’m stopping by and can I bring my friend?’ And I was like, ‘Of course.’ I got a call from my agent who called me and said, ‘I met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry.’ The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked, and we stayed up all night talking and then,” George revealed during an episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman in January 2018.

2014

The Oscar winner proposed to Amal in 2014 at home after cooking her dinner. “It was 20 minutes of me on my knee, waiting for her to say yes, because she was so shocked,” he said of the proposal. They got married in May of that year in Italy.

2015

Amal looked glamorous at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, wearing a classic black Christian Dior Couture gown and white gloves.

2016

She was glowing at the premiere of Universal Pictures’ Hail, Caesar! That year, the duo celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

“I made dinner. I don’t think she’s ever quite impressed with my cooking,” George said of the laid back celebration. “If I slap something together — spaghetti and meatballs —she doesn’t know that it comes in a jar, so I can just fool her with that one.”

2017

The couple welcomed twins Alexander and Ella.

“Every single day of my life, I just feel lucky,” George gushed to The Hollywood Reporter in September 2017. “Lucky in my career. Lucky enough to have found the perfect partner. Sometimes in life it doesn’t happen on your schedule, but you find the person that you were always supposed to be with. That’s how I feel, and I know that’s how Amal feels.”
