George Lucas Reveals Harrison Ford Wanted to Be Killed Off in Second ‘Star Wars’ Film!

Kill off Han Solo?! What, are you crazy?!

Lucky for Star Wars fans, George Lucas didn’t listen to Harrison Ford when he suggested the director kill off his character in the franchise’s second installment, The Empire Strikes Back.

“Harrison kept yelling through the whole thing, ‘Kill me! Kill me! Kill me!'” George reveals. “I said, ‘Harrison, I can’t kill you. I need you at the end of the next movie,'” adding, “But I’ll do the next best thing. I’ll put you in a slab of concrete and ship you off to Mars.”

George calls his 5th episode, which includes the iconic moment when Darth Vader reveals he is Luke Skywalker’s father, “soulful” and “a little bit more adult” than Episode IV.

Though the 70-year-old never planned on making Star Wars into three separate films, he appreciates what each brings to the table.

“It had an interesting effect of each film having its own personality, caused by the plot,” he tells Empire magazine.

The seventh installment in the extremely popular saga is currently being filmed, directed by J.J. Abrams, with the original trio (Harrison, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill) as well as a new cast of characters.
