Giada De Laurentiis Spends ‘Ridiculous’ Amount of Time ‘Pampering’ Herself to Look Flawless
Giada De Laurentiis has terrific skin, and that’s because she has an obsessive beauty ritual that rivals ones used by Jennifer Lopez, and sources exclusively tell Closer it’s rapidly taking over her whole life.
“She looks amazing, and she knows it,” a source says of the 54-year-old chef and TV personality. “That’s because she spares no time or expense on skin and hair care [products] and beauty experts.”
In a 2014 interview with Allure, Giada revealed the secrets behind her beauty routine.
“When it comes to my face, I exfoliate every day, usually at night,” she explained. “When I’m at home, I make my own blend of baking soda, olive oil, and a little bit of water to thin it out. And I do a hair mask of avocado and olive oil. When I’m on the road, it’s harder to do that, so I use the conditioner in the box of Clairol Natural Instincts. It has coconut oil and aloe, so it’s really moisturizing.”
According to the Closer source, “It’s ridiculous the amount she spends to make herself look the way she does. Her pampering sessions can last anywhere from an hour to three hours depending on the occasion. She’ll go to sleep with puffy-reducing patches on her face and her hair lathered in leave-in conditioner. Even washing her face is a multi-step process.”
Due to her appearances on television — Giada was the host of Food Network’s Giada at Home and also appears regularly on NBC’s Today — she ensures that she’s always camera ready.

“She’s a celebrity chef, pasta mogul and restaurant owner and figures it’s important to look her best, but it must drive people in her world to distraction,” the source says. “She obsesses over everything from head to foot and is quite competitive about the way she looks around other chefs, too.”
It seems that Giada gets her passion for beauty from her mother, Veronica De Laurentiis.
In a 2020 interview with her mom published on her Giadzy website, Veronica explained that Italian women “have a more natural approach to beauty,” adding, “They use less makeup, and most of them appreciate the qualities of old age.”
When asked by Giada what the secret is to Italian women’s skin, Veronica revealed, “Eating well: lots of veggies, fruits and olive oil. Food here is still very good and very clean! And making time to enjoy life!”
As for Veronica’s own personal beauty rituals, she said, “I clean my face morning and night with oil, rinse it with cool water and then apply moisturizer with SPF for the day and a collagen cream for the night.”
She added, “Never go to bed without cleaning my face, never go out without SPF protection on my face and never lie in the sun to get a tan! My favorite beauty ritual is lighting scented candles and soaking in a bathtub filled with lavender bubble bath, lavender Epsom salts, a little baby oil and a few drops of lavender oil. All my Italian friends love baths, too!”
