Inside Glenn Close and David Shaw's Sudden Divorce - Closer Weekly

“He’s a really, really infinitely interesting man,” actress Glenn Close raved to Closer last September, referring to her then-husband, biotechnology entrepreneur David Shaw.

But after nine years of wedded bliss the interest wore out, and on Aug. 18, her third marriage ended as quietly as it started with a divorce.

The six-time Oscar nominee — who’s played everything from grand dames to lawyers to psychos — has had her share of failed romances. She wed songwriter Cabot Wade in 1969 and businessman James Marlas in 1984. (Ex-boyfriend John Starke, a movie producer, is the father of her daughter Annie Starke, 27.)

Glenn herself has admitted that relationships don’t come easy for her. “Men and women are so vastly different,” she said. “Why put more pressure on by binding yourself to someone?”

Her current split was a “mutual” decision, says a source, adding, “they’ve been separated for some time, and things are amicable.”
