As one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars, Glenn Close has had the chance to costar with lots of handsome and talented leading men during her decades-long showbiz career. From Jack Nicholson in 1996’s Mars Attacks! to Robert Redford in 1984’s The Natural, the 71-year-old took a fun trip down memory lane in Closer Weekly‘s latest issue — on newsstands now! — to share a few of her favorite memories of acting beside some of La La Land’s biggest actors.

“I adore him,” Glenn raved of Christopher Walken, who played her farmer husband in three Sarah, Plain and Tall TV movies. “[Producers] said, ‘Are you kidding me? He’s so scary!’ And I said, ‘Well, I don’t want to do it without him.”

Kevin Kline

“Oh, he was a fabulous husband!” Glenn gushed of her better half, Kevin Kline, in 1983’s The Big Chill. “We had a ball,” she added of the famous scene in which they dance in the kitchen. “I think they have a good marriage.”

Robert Redford

As the high school sweetheart who reunites with baseball legend Roy Hobbs in 1984’s The Natural, she had to spurn Robert Redford in one scene. Glenn said, “I don’t know how many women in movies have actually thrown Robert Redford out of their apartment!”

Jack Nicholson

She was cast as the first lady to his president in Tim Burton‘s 1996 alien-invasion comedy Mars Attacks!, and even though he lets her get killed by a falling chandelier, Glenn doesn’t hold it against Jack Nicholson. “Damn him!” she laughed. “It’s fun working with him.”

“I was thrilled to work with Jonathan [Price], and I was very grateful he supported me in a 2017 movie called The Wife,” Glenn said of the Brit who costarred as her novelist husband. “We couldn’t find an American actor who would do that.”
