Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s Family Is ‘Sick of Them Flip-Flopping’ on Possibility of Marriage
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have once again cooled on the idea of marriage, and everyone in their inner circle is throwing their hands in the air and wondering why they bring it up at all.
“Their friends and family are sick of them flip-flopping over the issue and wish they’d make up their minds already — or just stop talking about it,” an insider exclusively tells Closer.
Goldie, 78, and Kurt, 73, met for the first time on the set of the 1968 musical film The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, but it wasn’t until years later that their relationship turned romantic.
When they started working together on 1984’s Swing Shift, Goldie was open to finding love again following her divorce from her second husband, Bill Hudson, and Kurt was newly divorced from his ex-wife, Season Hubley.
Despite welcoming a child together, son Wyatt Russell, in 1986, Goldie and Kurt decided not to marry.
“Marriage didn’t work for either one of us,” the Academy Award-winning actress said during a November 2020 appearance on Today. “I’m not saying that it wouldn’t work again, but I didn’t think that we really needed to get married. I mean, what marriage ended up being, in many ways, is big business.”
However, in recent years, Kurt has said that marriage has “come up in conversation whereas it never used to.”
After Goldie and Kurt “really seemed to be on the same page at last” when it comes to tying the knot, Closer‘s source reveals that “cold feet set in as it has so many times before.”
Goldie — who has been candid about how having “good sex” is the secret to the success of their relationship — worries that “getting married will jinx what they have and that it will be the end of their sizzling sex life,” says the insider.

“Trouble is, when they’re in their ‘it’s on’ mode, they get people excited,” the source explains, adding that wedding planners start “going over the formalities, and then they say, ‘Never mind.'”
Says the source, “In some twisted way, Kurt and Goldie seem to like the attention. But other people in their close circle, like their kids, have better things to do than shop for wedding stuff only to return it later!”
Though Goldie and Kurt have been madly in love for years, the two have faced some challenges throughout their relationship.
In April, Goldie noted that they “don’t agree on everything.”
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” she explained, “His politics are different than mine. You know, there’s all these things that could divide you. But the one thing that we have, the greatest thing in God’s world, is our family. That is where we thrive and where we have incredible amounts of joy and really focus on that.”
Aside from son Wyatt, 38, Goldie shares children Oliver and Kate Hudson with Bill, and Kurt is dad to son Boston Russell with Season.
Kurt and Goldie are grandparents to eight grandchildren. Oliver, 48, shares kids Wilder, Bodhi and Rio with his wife, Erinn Bartlett. Kate, 45, shares son Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson, son Bingham with ex Matt Bellamy and daughter Rani with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. Wyatt shares sons Buddy and Boone with wife Meredith Hagner.
