Goldie Hawn ‘Loves Being a Grandmother’ to 8 Grandkids: She ‘Delivers Happiness to Them’
Goldie Hawn is embracing all of the blessings in her life, including her precious grandkids! The Cactus Flower actress gushed over being a grandmother of eight little ones, born to her children.
“It’s an unbelievable weave that starts to happen when your children start to have children,” Goldie, 79, told Hoda Kotb on her “Making Space” podcast on Wednesday, November 20. “But they’re the parents. And what one has to be careful is that we don’t want to be a horn that’s always saying, ‘Why’d you do that?’ and, ‘They should do this,’ and whatever. So Kurt [Russell] and I, give them full autonomy.”
Goldie welcomed kids Kate and Oliver Hudson with ex-husband Bill Hudson, while Kurt, 73, welcomed son Boston Russell with ex-wife Season Hubley. Goldie and Kurt began dating in 1983 and welcomed son Wyatt Russell in 1986.
More than 40 years later, the happy couple is still going strong and loves being surrounded by their family. They are proud grandparents of eight, including Kate’s kids, Wyatt, Bingham and Rani, Oliver’s kids, Wilder, Bodhi and Rio and Wyatt’s kids, Buddy and Boone.
Goldie said that her grandkids have a “big, wide range” of ages, with the youngest being 9 months and the eldest being 20.
“Being a go-go, grandmother, I love it,” the Academy Award winner said.
“I do love being a grandmother, but I’m not the boss. I’m just the one that can deliver happiness to them, and also an ear if they need it,” she added.
Goldie shared a sweet memory with her eldest grandson, Wyatt.
“My Wyatt used to say, ‘Mother, may I kiss your royal ring?’ You know, because I always like these big rings,” she recalled. “I mean, they love you so much. And that’s the one thing we talk about parenting. Remember that. No one will love you like your children do. And that’s the most important part of your life.”

The Snatched actress said that parents should embrace all of the time with their kids that they can before they grow up.
“One day they’ll be living their life,” she said. “One day you’re going to wonder why they didn’t call you. But at one point in time, you were the queen, you were the ‘it’ girl. And that really is important to cherish.”
Last month, Goldie gushed over her relationship with Kurt and the reason why their love has held strong after all of these years.
“We’re very, very aligned in our sense of humor,” she said during an appearance on Good Morning America. “Sometimes you’re not aligned in other areas, right? We’re humans that are different. Each person comes in with a different personality, but there’s so much I do love about Kurt, and one of them is his sense of humor.”
The doting mom and grandmother said that she and Kurt live close to their family.
“I think that we’d kind of rather be with us,” she said. “Back in the day, when we would do little trips and stuff, the kids used to say, ‘Can it just be us, Mommy?’ And that’s the way we still are, even though we’ve grown up.”
