Halle Berry Is Single and Loving It, Thank You Very Much

Sorry, fellas! Halle Berry revealed in a new interview that she has sworn off men (for the moment, at least) and is loving the single life. According to the 50-year-old actress — who has had a string of high-profile romances — she has been taking some much needed time for herself lately.

“[I’m] taking a little break [from dating],” Halle said on the Wednesday, Aug. 9, episode of The Jess Cagle Interview. “I’ve been enjoying that. I’m just with my kids and I’m really taking time to think and reflect, and trying to figure out how to make different choices and just have a minute to be with myself.”

The Hollywood beauty is the mother of daughter Nahla Ariela, 9, whom she shares with ex Gabriel Aubry, and three-year-old son Maceo-Robert from her marriage to Olivier Martinez, whom she finalized her divorce from last year. Halle was also famously married to Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005 and David Justice from 1992 to 1997.

“I think this is proving to be a really valuable time. I never really took time like this to be with myself,” Halle continued, adding that she feels so much more confident now that she knows she can handle being alone. “That’s been a big lesson for me. I’m learning that I’m fearless, because I had so many fears as I went through my third divorce, I was afraid to do that. But I was more afraid living unhappy, so I faced that fear.”

Halle has also conquered the struggle of balancing her busy work life with motherhood. The showbiz vet — who plays a mother desperate to save her son from an abductor in the new film Kidnap — previously told People that she leans on her girlfriends when she feels guilty about spending time away from her family.

“It’s a constant struggle of a little more time there, a little more time here, and feeling a little bit guilty all the time. I just keep telling all my mom friends who work that it’s OK to give ourselves a little slack sometime,” she said. "And not let the guilt sit on us so heavily and know that we are doing the best we can.”
