Hoda Kotb and Ex Joel Schiffman ‘Still Enjoy Each Other’s Company’: She ‘Feels Incredibly Blessed’
Hoda Kotb and ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman had a wonderful Christmas together going over old times and hanging out with the kids, and they’ve vowed to keep seeing each other in the same vein in 2025.
“Hoda knows they’re no longer a couple, but she feels so happy and thrilled that they can be the best of friends and get together like this as a family and create more wonderful memories with each other and the kids,” an insider exclusively tells Closer.
“They’ve worked through their differences to coparent and exist peacefully. She and Joel have come to a mutual understanding and they’re in a good place,” the insider adds. “She knows he will always be there for her and vice versa. He still gives the best presents ever on any occasion!”
Hoda, 60, shared photos from the Christmas festivities on her Instagram account, wearing matching pajamas with Joel, 66, and their daughters, Haley and Hope. They all had smiles on their faces when they sat down for Christmas dinner together later that night.
During an episode of Today on Christmas Eve, Hoda explained that she usually has a small gathering at her house for Christmas each year, with her siblings, her mom and Joel.
“We get together. That’s the group, and it’s kind of just a cozy Christmas,” the You Are My Happy author told cohost Jenna Bush Hager during the broadcast. “So, we’ll put out cookies tonight for Santa and carrots. He always seems to like the cookies more.”

The NBC personality and the financier began dating in 2013 and got engaged in 2019. In January 2022, Hoda announced that the pair had split after nearly eight years together. She said that they would be focusing on being “loving parents” to their kids despite their breakup.
They both kept their word, as they have been pictured spending time with their kids on her Instagram account in the years since Hoda announced their split.
“It’s sad they couldn’t make their romance work, but they feel good about where they’re at right now,” the insider explains. “They can still enjoy each other’s company, and Joel is very much a part of Hope and Haley’s lives. Hoda feels incredibly blessed.”
Just recently, Hoda and Joel appeared in photos from Haley’s 8th birthday party at a bowling alley. “Love seeing Joel with you all,” one person commented on the January 10 Instagram post. The post came just as Hoda marked her exit from Today after 17 years as a cohost.
Others in the comments section of the post praised Hoda for being such a good parent to her little ones.
“Hoda, thank you for showing young women that it’s great to have a career AND it’s great to be at home as well! Life is full of choices and what’s right for one family can look very different from another family!” one person wrote in the comments section.
“What a beautiful inspiration you are! What an incredible journey and what an incredible beautiful soul you have,” another person said. “Congratulations and may this next journey bring you and your precious girls immense happiness and joy! May every day be filled with laughter and love!! We are sure going to miss you!”
