Hoda Kotb Reveals She’s Only Worn Makeup ‘Probably 3 Times’ in 2 Months Since Exiting ‘Today’
Hoda Kotb is enjoying her life away from the camera and admitted that she has worn makeup “probably three times” since her January exit from the Today show.
“You know what I realized? I don’t look at myself anymore,” Hoda, 60, told People in a story published on Wednesday, March 5. “You look at yourself at work because there’s a big mirror and camera and you’re like, ‘Oh, my hair’s a mess.’ So, you’re constantly fussing.”
The beloved TV host, who left the Today show to dedicate her time to raising daughters Haley Joy, 9, and Hope Catherine, 5, shared that her little girls keep her in check.
“But I don’t notice anymore. My kids are like, ‘Mom, you look crazy right now.’ But you know what? I’m happy,” she said to the outlet.
As for Hoda’s school drop-off attire, she opts for jeans on a “crazy” day, but usually wears leggings since she either works out before or after morning mommy duties.
“I’m with 10 kids walking to school together and a couple of moms. I go, ‘This is awesome. Look at me with my sweats on and my coffee. I’m into it,’” Hoda told the outlet in a separate part of the interview.
Hoda’s daughters escorted her out of studio 1A in Rockefeller Center during her January 10 farewell as they drove off in a minivan and started their new chapter together. Days later, the seasoned reporter gave fans a peek inside her new stay-at-home-mom life.
“School drop!!! Let’s goooo!”” Hoda captioned the January 14 post, alongside photos of Haley and Hope taken during their morning routine.
While Hoda’s daughters are her No. 1 priority, a source previously told Closer that she is still going to be one busy lady.
“Her big focus will be her daughters, but she’s not going to be sitting home twiddling her thumbs when they’re busy with school,” the source exclusively told Closer on January 22. “She still wants to work, but it will be a nice relief to not be up and out of the house every day before the sun’s up.”

Earlier that month, Hoda revealed that she is turning her wellness practices into a career.
“I am starting a wellness app and company that will involve retreats and a podcast and all kinds of things that we can get together, do things that I love,” Hoda told Kelly Clarkson on the January 6 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. “It’s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but this is something that when you leave, you’ll go like, ‘Oh my gosh. I feel transformed. I feel different.’”
Hoda isn’t raising her daughters by herself as she shares Haley and Hope with her former fiancé, Joel Schiffman. The pair adopted Haley in 2017 and Hope two years later. Joel, 66, proposed to Hoda in 2019, but they never made it down the aisle as they initially postponed their wedding date a handful of times due to COVID-19 restrictions. They called it quits in 2022 later on amicable terms.
