Hoda Kotb Signs New Deal at NBC, Reveals What Her Involvement Will Be on Network After Leaving ‘Today’

It’s been a tearful day over on Today as Hoda Kotb has marked her final episode of the talk show after 17 years. But, the TV personality has already announced that she signed a new deal with NBC amid her departure from the beloved program.

“I think it’ll be kind of a Snoop-ish role,” she told Page Six on Friday, January, 10, of her new gig. The comment was made in reference to Snoop Dogg’s dominating presence on NBC after he became a special correspondent and unofficial Team USA mascot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Hoda, 60, said that she has been crying a lot during her final week on Today but is looking forward to what’s to come.

“I literally have a bottle of Gatorade by my bed,” the NBC personality told the outlet. “And I’m not kidding after this week of tears.”

The outlet confirmed that Hoda will be making appearances at both the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics with NBC. We can likely expect her to be a correspondent during the sporting events or a commentator for the network.

Craig Melvin will be taking over Hoda’s role in the early morning hours of Today after Hoda’s departure from the program.

An insider told Closer earlier this week that Craig “knows that he won’t fill Hoda’s shoes,” but “he’s a natural fit. He gets along with the cast and crew very well. The dynamic will change and it will take some time but, ultimately, Today will go on.”

Hoda explained that she will now be a “supporting character on a team that is already in place so that I’ll come in and just have a role there.”

And listeners of her “Making Space” podcast will still be able to catch her making regular episodes. Plus, she teased that she will be making cameos on Today every once in a while, so fans have plenty of stuff to look forward to.

“For the Today show, I think we talked about doing something every four to six weeks, just a little something,” Hoda said about her future appearances on the show.

In addition to popping in on Today and making other appearances on NBC after leaving her cohosting position, Hoda is excited about branching into the wellness space.

“I am starting a wellness app and company that will involve retreats and a podcast,” the mom of two, who shares daughters Haley and Hope with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman, said while recently appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “This is something that when you leave you’ll feel like, ‘Oh my gosh, I feel transformed. I feel different.'”

She said that the project is in the “building process,” with plans to launch in the spring of 2025. Ultimately, her goal is to help other people live their best lives.

“I’ve been given way more than I deserve, way more,” Hoda told USA TODAY. “So now it’s like this is the season of giving, of helping, of mentoring, of showing and hopefully it could make someone else’s life easier.”
