Hugh Grant Opens Up About Fatherhood and 8-Year-Old Daughter Lulu’s Taylor Swift Obsession

Hugh Grant is finally opening up about his youngest daughters, Lulu and Blue, revealing their full names and making rare comments about fatherhood during a recent Jimmy Kimmel Live! interview.

The Music and Lyrics star, 64, shared the story about his unusual middle name — Mungo — and how he passed the strange name tradition onto his children on the talk show on October 30. “It’s actually Hugh John Mungo,” he joked. “I don’t know how it happened. I had very unkind parents.”

When Jimmy, 56, asked if he passed the “Mungo” moniker onto any of his five kids, Hugh responded, “Worse.”

“I have a daughter, who I named … I was in a bit of a panic with my wife on the day we named her, and we thought it might be nice if, when she’s older, she could say in bars that her middle name was Danger. So her name is Lulu Danger Grant,” he added.

This was Hugh’s first time publicly revealing the name of his 8-year-old daughter. He also shared the story of naming his 5-year-old daughter and revealed her moniker, Blue, for the first time. The Heretic star revealed that his son John Mungo helped pick out her name.

“Named Blue because, again, I panicked … So we asked her elder brother. We said, ‘There’s a new baby coming along, what should we call her?’ And he said, ‘Kevin,’ because that was his favorite Minion,” he recalled, referencing the Despicable Me franchise. “And we did think about calling her Kevin, but then we said, ‘You better think of something else.’ So he said Blue, because it was his favorite color.”

In addition to revealing his youngest kids’ names, Hugh opened up about Lulu’s obsession with Taylor Swift. The Golden Globe winner spent time with the pop star’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at one of her Eras tour concerts at Wembley Stadium in London in June. Hugh gave Taylor, 34, a shoutout on X after the show on behalf of himself, wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein and Lulu.

“Dear @taylorswift13, You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team and excellent if gigantic boyfriend (#tequilashots.). Thanks so much from one aging London boy, wife and thrilled 8 year old #halfgirlhalfbracelet,” the actor wrote.

Taylor responded, “As a long time Hugh Grant stan this tweet is very important to my culture.”

Hugh said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that Lulu hopes to meet Taylor someday, and though he has tried “every day” to secure a meet and greet, he hasn’t been successful yet.

While Hugh shares John, 12, Lulu and Blue with Anna, 41, he also shares daughter Tabitha Xiao Xi Grant and son Felix Chang Hong Grant with ex Tinglan Hong. Though he is fairly private about his family life, the Notting Hill star once said he wished he had settled down sooner.

“I should have done it before,” he told Today in 2018. “I’m just lucky. I’ve got a great wife. I love her.”

Of being a father, Hugh told People, “It’s just lovely to have all that love around. Suddenly you love someone more than yourself. It’s unheard of in my case and they love you and it’s all enchanting.”
