Duchess Meghan Shares Video of Her Younger Self Fighting Sexism for International Day of the Girl

Seriously, there’s so many reasons why we love Duchess Meghan! On Friday, October 11, she posted the most inspirational video to Instagram in honor of International Day of the Girl. In it, she shared a clip of her 11-year-old self talking about making a change and what that can do to the world.

“If you see something that you don’t like or are offended by on television or any other place, write letters and send them to the right people and you can really make a difference not just for yourself but for a lot of other people,” her younger self said.

The Duchess of Sussex talked about writing a letter and taking action because, when she was younger, she did the same exact thing when she saw a sexist ad on TV. To her disbelief, the company who made the ad actually changed the content in it’s commercial once the duchess started to hear back from some very powerful people like Hillary Clinton herself.

“It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision,” Meghan also said in the video, but this time is was a different clip of herself more recently. She said that powerful line when she gave a speech about female empowerment to the United Nations back in 2015.

For as long as we know, Meghan has always been very passionate about women’s issues and on Instagram she showed just how much gender equality means to her in the caption.

“Today is International #DayoftheGirl, a day observed globally and created by the United Nations to acknowledge the gender inequality that exists worldwide,” she said. “Be it lack of access to education, stigma surrounding Menstrual Hygiene Management, forced child marriage, legal or medical inequality, or gender-based violence, there is a pressing need to support young women in their path to excellence.”

“It is also a day to celebrate and encourage girls to know their value and to support them in taking action to grow into the women they wish to be,” the post continued.

We don’t know about you, but we are already feeling inspired to live our best lives!
