Jenna Bush Hager and Twin Sister Barbara Gush Over Motherhood: ‘It’s Very Beautiful, Sissy’

Jenna Bush Hager and sister Barbara Pierce Bush are soaking up every second of motherhood.

The twins gushed about their experiences raising young children in a joint interview with People published on Tuesday, March 25.

“I was just telling my husband this morning, I know at some point [Cora Georgia and Edward] aren’t going to need me in this way, and I don’t want to miss it,” Barbara, 43, told the outlet. “Little tiny blooms of purple flowers were coming out of a flower bed when we were walking to school, and Cora Georgia was so excited to point it out when I would have walked by and missed it. These little things that are just so beautiful and magical about our world would be so easy to pass by if not for the kids’ reminder.”

Jenna, 43, said she knew that her sister was always meant to be a mother.

“Because that was what she wanted, you know? And Barbara works hard to get whatever she wants. But it’s so beautiful to see her embrace her kids. And they are the luckiest, because she’s so creative and fun and present,” she said. “All kids want is to feel like they’re seen, and she makes both of her babies feel like that.”

Barbara became emotional as Jenna continued, “It’s very beautiful, sissy.”

On March 18, Barbara and Jenna published their latest children’s book together, I Loved You First. Jenna told the outlet that the book is a “call to action” for busy parents.

“It’s like, ‘Hey, put the phone down. You only have so long with your kids,’” she said. “If you can see the world through your kids’ eyes, it’s so optimistic and joyful and creative.”

Barbara and husband Craig Louis Coyne welcomed daughter Cora, 3, in September 2021, with the former first daughter’s parents, George W. Bush and Laura Bush, announcing the news in a statement.

“With full hearts, Laura [Bush] and I are delighted to announce the birth of our new granddaughter,” the statement read. “Cora is healthy and adorable, and we are proud and grateful.”

When the couple welcomed son Edward, 7 months, in August 2024, it was Jenna’s turn to announce the big news.

“My sissy had a little mister and I fell madly in love with Edward Finn!” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

George, 78, added in his own post, “Welcome to the world, Edward Finn Coyne. @laurawbush and I are proud grandparents of our newest blessing, born on August 4 and lovingly named in honor of his great-grandfathers. Congratulations to Barbara, Craig, and big sister Cora Georgia.”

As for Jenna, she and husband Henry Hager are parents to daughters Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5. The Today host gushed about her family after she gave birth to her son in 2019.

“I feel good. I feel happy,” she said while calling into the talk show at the time. “You know, I think when you’re holed up in a hospital room with a newborn and you see the joy and the light in his eyes, you realize this is what life is for — to make the world better for our little babes.”
