Jennie Garth Defends Herself After Being Slammed Online for Not Posting a Tribute to Late Costar Luke Perry

She’s not having it! Jennie Garth is standing up for herself after online haters tried to slam her on Instagram for not posting a tribute to Luke Perry after his sudden death on Monday, March 4. Since the two worked alongside each other on the hit show Beverly Hills 90210, her trolls thought that it was only fair that she should post a tribute to the late actor like her fellow costars Shannen Doherty and Ian Ziering. But instead of talking about Luke on social media, Jennie, 46, instead posted a photo of her three beautiful daughters, Luca, 21, Lola, 16, and Fiona, 12, for International Women’s Day — and it sent haters into a frenzy.

To try and defend herself, Jennie began replying to her followers who said that she wasn’t “mourning” the loss of her friend. “Hi everyone … I chose to post a pic of my girls today. Because they are my life. Because today is a day to celebrate all women. It took a lot for me to want to celebrate anything. I thought about it and I know that’s the way my dear friend would have wanted it. His kids were his life,” she wrote. “And anyone who knew him knows that and knows he didn’t give a f–k about social media.”

“So please don’t assume or judge or make rude comments. That’s really uncool. Sincerely, Jennie,” she added. Following Luke’s passing, Jennie did send People a written statement about losing her friend and costar. “My heart is broken. He meant so much to so many. Such a very special person. I share my deep sadness with his family and all who loved him. Such a terrible loss,” she said.
