Beyonce, Jennifer Garner and More Stars Lending a Hand Amid the Devastating California Wildfires
As the wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles, celebrities are stepping up to support their beloved communities. Former late-night host Jay Leno joined other volunteers in serving barbecue to firefighters. “They’re all getting boxed lunches, and we figured, ‘Let’s get some hot food,’” Jay said.
Actress Jennifer Garner also jumped into action, feeding and assisting those who have lost their homes in the fire. “I’ve lived in and around the Palisades for 25 years,” she said. “So I think all of us want to get our hands into working somehow, to be helpful.”
During the early days of the blaze, actor James Woods helped evacuate his 94-year-old neighbor, while Police Academy alum Steve Guttenberg moved abandoned cars out of fire truck pathways. “At this time I have the choice of sitting down and walking or standing up and doing what I can,” Steve said. “I choose to stand and fight.” Some stars are making monetary donations to aid in the relief efforts, including Beyoncé ($2.5 million), Jamie Lee Curtis ($1 million) and Eva Longoria ($50,000). “L.A. is strong,” Eva shared. “Everybody is on the street. Everybody is helping. People are coming together in beautiful ways, and it’s beautiful to watch.”
