Jennifer Love Hewitt Hilariously Recalls Girls Night Out With Betty White: ‘We Got Drunk!’
Hollywood icon Betty White is 96 years old but she didn’t let her age slow her down when she recently enjoyed a girls night out with her The Lost Valentine co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt. Jennifer shared the hilarious story about her and Betty’s crazy evening during a new episode of the Late Late Show With James Corden — and she revealed that the night involved drinks, food, and good company!
“She loves pizza and vodka so one night we were filming, and we went out and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going on a date with Betty White.’ It’s the most nervous date I’ve ever been on in my life,” Jennifer, 39, joked, adding that the two stars ended up going to a nearby restaurant for food but left having one drink too many.
“We’re chatting and having the best time. I don’t drink a lot, so maybe three-and-a-half vodkas in I’m like, ‘Woo, I’m feeling this dinner with Betty White, OK.’ So, we go to leave and it’s great and then all of the sudden I see that Betty’s sort of going this way,” she said before demonstrating how Betty struggled to walk straight after also having a few cocktails.
Once Jennifer realized that Betty was drunk, she immediately went into protective mode and felt an overbearing need to keep her friend safe. “I was like, ‘Oh my god, I am like the bodyguard of a national treasure. You have got to snap it together and don’t kill Betty White on your date,” she hilariously shared.
Jennifer added that the whole experience was “one of the drunkest times” in her life but instead of feeling embarasssed, Jen appreciated that she and Betty became good friends from that night.
The best part of Jennifer’s story about Betty? The actress explained that when they returned to their hotel, Betty invited her up to her room for a “nightcap.” She continued, “Her nightcap is gummy bears. I mean, shut the front door and lock it. She’s perfect. We got drunk and we had gummy bears, and it was amazing!”
