Jerry Seinfeld Is ‘Terrible Diva’ on Comedy Tour: He’s ‘Very Particular About Cleanliness’
Jerry Seinfeld is back on the road for his comedy act, but he’s driving the staff nuts with his obsessive ways.
“Jerry’s very particular about cleanliness, and not just at home,” a source exclusively tells Closer of the 70-year-old comedian. “He’s just as fastidious about hygiene and wellness when he’s doing a stand-up tour — to his fellow travelers’ dismay.”
The Seinfeld star is currently on tour with fellow comedian Jim Gaffigan. The two have upcoming stops in Maryland and Georgia, and they will continue touring well into 2025. Tickets are on sale for tour stops through October 11, 2025.
While out and about on the road, though, Jerry has a very particular way of living. “He brings his own sterilized water bottles and his own ‘green’ cleaning supplies because every surface needs to be wiped down before he’ll settle down into it, especially the bathroom,” the source explains.
And since he must constantly stay in new cities, “Jerry has his own grooming kit with organic face cleansers and moisturizers, even his own towels and pillows, and he uses hand sanitizer like his life depended on it,” the insider reveals. “He wouldn’t touch a hotel’s toiletries.”
Apparently, Jerry’s obsessive personality goes way beyond the cleanliness of hotels and venues.

“He’s just as picky about his food and coffee, too, of course,” the insider reveals. “He’s a terrible diva, but people put up with his weird idiosyncrasies because he’s funny, and at the end of the day, he makes people laugh.”
While Jerry has been extremely busy these days — he also directed and starred in the comedy film Unfrosted, which was released earlier this year — one of his Seinfeld costars appears to be having a harder time finding as much work.
A separate source told Closer in August that Jason Alexander is keen to reignite his Hollywood career and could use some help from his former colleagues — particularly Jerry and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
“People in the television business have a soft spot for Jason because of all his classic moments on Seinfeld and his obvious natural talent with comedy,” the source said. “The problem has been converting that into a viable comedy series that can run for years and years, which Jason has spent the last few years hunting down without success.”
The insider blamed Jerry and Julia, 63, “for not helping” get Jason, 65, “back on TV in a major way,” adding, “They have golden instincts when it comes to material and writers and know Jason is too proud to beg for help from his old costars.”
While the former costars have all remained friendly, fans shouldn’t expect to see a reunion anytime soon.
Rumors previously swirled that a Seinfeld reboot was in the works, but Jerry shut the gossip down completely during an interview earlier this year with Extra. When asked by the outlet in May if fans would ever see a reboot of the ’90s sitcom, which ran for nine seasons through May 1998, he flatly said, “No.”
In the beloved television show, Jerry played a fictionalized version of himself alongside Jason as best friend George Costanza, Julia as former girlfriend Elaine Benes and Michael Richards as neighbor Cosmo Kramer.
