With a list of tremendous accolades to his name, Jesse Plemons decided to take his health more seriously. The Breaking Bad alum revealed his dramatic weight loss transformation on the Oscars 2024 red carpet.

“I don’t know, man. Something clicked in my head and I got tired of carrying all that extra weight around,” he said of his decision to lose weight during a February 2023 chat with Interview Magazine.

“I got asked to do a scene in this movie and I was playing a soldier, and I was like, ‘I don’t know many soldiers that are my size,’” he continued. “So like everyone else, I started doing intermittent fasting, cut carbs, all that stuff. It’s easy if you just actually do it.”

The Civil War star later shot down rumors that he used the weight loss drug Ozempic to slim down.

From 2006 to 2011, Jesse appeared as Landry Clarke in Friday Night Lights. He credited the show for giving him his big break.

“I think I’ve just been really, really lucky to sneak into some great limited series,” he said. “And my first real gig where it hit me that I might be able to do this for a living was this show called Friday Night Lights.”

Jesse shot down rumors that he used the weight loss drug Ozempic to slim down.

“It’s really unfortunate that I decided to get healthy when everyone decided to take Ozempic,” he told The Los Angeles Times in June 2024. “It doesn’t matter, everyone’s going to think I took Ozempic anyways. But what it was was getting older and — I hate even getting specific because then it turns into a whole thing, but there was a part that I did that in my mind I could not imagine him as the size that I was.”

He then explained how he turned to intermittent fasting to help him lose weight over time.

“Several people talked to me about intermittent fasting and I just gave it a shot and [was] surprised at how quickly it was effective,” the Civil War star continued. “So I lost a little bit before I did that part and then felt like I was in the rhythm, I was feeling better, and something shifted in my head. I just sort of got a handle on it.”
