Joanna Gaines Reveals the Romantic (and Unexpected!) Place She and Chip Went on Their Honeymoon
How sweet! When it came time for Chip Gaines and his wife, Joanna Gaines, to jet off on a romantic honeymoon after their May 2003 wedding, they chose a destination that we, frankly, never expected. In the latest issue of the couple’s Magnolia Journal magazine, Jo, 40, revealed she and Chip, 44, honeymooned in … the Big Apple!
“New York City was where Chip and I spent our honeymoon,” she revealed in the publication’s spring 2019 issue. “We explored together and let the city’s constant creative energy guide us. There was a time when our big kids were babies and our businesses were just getting off the ground that it was hard to get back for a visit.”
However, Joanna and Chip found time to return to the city that never sleeps once their kids started to get older. “Lately, life and work have brought us back to the city more often,” she explained. “Whenever that happens, I make a point to visit the places that never fail to inspire me. I’m sharing a few in this guide with the hope that they may do the same for you.”
Though the lovely couple has now been married for 15 years, a source previously told Closer Weekly that Chip and Joanna never fail to keep their romance alive. “When the kids are in bed, Chip and Joanna enjoy date nights. Joanna loves to cook, and they’ll joke around in the kitchen together while she whips up Chip’s favorite dishes,” the source shared, noting that the duo still likes to have a “good time.”
In fact, Chip and Joanna might be the perfect pair because their personalities are not that similar. “That may lead people to draw the conclusion that we must not see eye to eye on things. And while we’re not immune to disagreements, I think it’s because of our differences that we’re able to see the best parts of each other.” Chip recently gushed of his marriage. “And man, when Jo and I show up on the same team, just as we are, and we let each other draw out that gold in the other, that’s when we really start to tap into the fullness of who we were created to be.”
