John Travolta Reveals His New Bald Look ‘Came on a Whim’ (Exclusive)

Grease star John Travolta recently shocked his fans when he debuted his newly bald head on Instagram and now, the 64-year-old actor is explaining just how his updated appearance came to be. In an exclusive new interview with Closer Weekly at the G’Day USA Gala in Culver City, California on Saturday, January 26, John confessed his decision to rock his natural look “came on a whim.”

“[It] feels great. Listen, my new look came on a whim. It was a New Year’s Eve idea. Because everyone liked it so much, I decided to keep it for a while. So, we’ll see,” the beloved star told Closer.

John debuted his completely bald head in an Instagram photo of himself posing with his 18-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, posted on January 5. When asked what Ella thinks of his new look, John gushed to Closer, “She loves it. And she’s a beauty, isn’t she?”

The proud dad continued, “She’s so amazing, and so unlike what you think a teenager, the cliché of a teenager. She’s different, and she’s gracious, and she’s lovely, she’s well-mannered, and she’s thoughtful, and it’s authentic. It’s very old school. She reminds me of an older movie star. Another era. So I’m very proud of her.”

After his updated look was so well-received by his many fans, John thanked his social media followers for their praise in a sweet Instagram video featuring his son, Benjamin Travolta, posted on January 9. “Hey there, Ben Travolta, John Travolta here,” the American Crime Story star began the clip. “We’re dirt biking today and we just got the great news that [my account] hit over a million followers on Instagram. We love you and we thank you and also, thanks for liking the new hairdo.”
