Julia Roberts Calls College Admissions Scandal ‘So Sad,’ Claims Parents ‘Don’t Have Enough Faith’ in Their Kids

Fellow Hollywood folks continue to voice their reactions to the shocking college admissions scandal that hit the news landscape earlier this week, and Julia Roberts is just the latest as she recently revealed how truly disappointing it is.

The 51-year-old recently sat-down with Scottish TV presenter Lorraine Kelly for an interview about her new movie, Ben Is Back. Costar Lucas Hedges, who plays her son in the film, also joined the chat. While speaking about the plot, the actress tied it to the college scam.

“To bring the college situation into the mix, that to me is so sad because I feel from an outsider that it says a little bit ‘I don’t have enough faith in you,'” the Pretty Woman star explained. “In this story [Ben Is Back], this mother is trying to say, ‘I have both of our faiths until you can find the faith in yourself again.'”

The Oscar-winner, who has three kids with husband Danny Moder, also touched on how she is as a mother. “From the kind of childhood I had, I raised my kids now, I don’t want them to have to have some of the struggles I had,” she said, adding, “But at the same time, you do need to know how to make your bed and how to do your laundry and how to be able to make one meal, these are important life skills. They have to run their own race, they have to have their own experience.”

Earlier this week, Julia’s Runaway Bride costar Rita Wilson also had a strong response to the college scandal. “It is so unethical and disturbing because there are kids who work really hard that are on financial aid who are desperate for a spot in any college,” the 62-year-old told host Busy Phillips while on Busy Tonight on Thursday, March 14.

She continued, “It is also insulting to the colleges that are not considered elite as if there’s somehow different or you’re getting a different education. It doesn’t matter, it’s all about hard work.”

These reactions come amid the scandal that involves 50 parents, including Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, allegedly.
